So far today, they are trying to get him up out of the bed in a sitting position, either in a chair, or his wheelchair, etc. at least three times today. Walking would be the ultimate goal, but they don't think they will get that far today.
The problem is that he began to run a fever overnight and they gave him Tylenol around 9 AM this morning, but it hasn't touched the fever. The fever at this time is 102.5 degrees. The nurse is going to find out from the doctors what they want to do next - whether they want blood drawn or whatever.
The good news is that he is in a sitting up position in bed. Not quite straight up, but at least not flat on his back. This is the first time he has sat up since surgery.
