Today was a day full of testing due to Collin's seizure last night. First thing this morning, they had him go for an EEG, which tests his brain waves. Shortly after that, they sent him for an MRI of his head to check for tumors in his brain. Thank the Lord, both tests came back normal. The CT Scan they did last night also came back normal. The doctor believes that the phenergan (a nausea medication) that he was given just before the seizure could have cause it, otherwise they are just treating it as an isolated event and they are hoping he does not have any further seizures. Neurology does not want to put him on a seizure preventative at this point, however, they did develop and implement a plan just in case he has another seizure, including a medication to give him in the event of a seizure. His transplant doctor is taking him off the phenergan and advising us to never give it to him again. As a precaution, they are furthermore referring to Collin as being allergic to phenergan.
The transplant doctor has had Collin on two medications, as needed, for something (Julie does not remember what), but now they are going to give both medications to him regularly instead of as needed because they can also be used to prevent seizures. They have him on so many medications right now, poor Julie cannot keep them straight!!
Collin is doing well. His spirit is good. By this afternoon, he was playing with some of his toys. He is still having problems with diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, so they are going to convert as many of his oral medications as possible to IV instead of oral administration. He has also started having an increase in back and leg pain, and he is refusing the pain medication, so they are trying to get him to get up and move around to help decrease the pain.
Otherwise, he is doing okay. Tomorrow he will be done with the current phase of chemo, and he will start the next set of chemo. He did fall a little behind on his chemo schedule because of the seizure - they had to stop administering the chemo after the seizure and during the MRI today, but it won't throw him off schedule too much. The actual bone marrow transplant is still scheduled for Monday.
Also, Julie and Heath were able to sign the lease today for their new house. Special thanks to Kara Simpson, one of Jenn's (Aunt Sissy's) best friends, for taking time from her day to sit with Collin while Julie and Heath signed the lease.
If anyone would like to help with the move or preparing the house for Collin to come home, please contact Julie or Jenn (Aunt Sissy).
We would like to thank Aunt Yvonne, Denise, and Leslie for allowing them to move into our late Aunt Yvette's house. This has been a blessing!
As always, thank you all for your continued support during this difficult time! We love you all!
