We decided to start a new page for Collin's Crew because people were having too many problems reading the former page. The other page, collinscrew.org, is still up and we may still use it for a few things. We will let you know if there is anything posted there. Henceforth, please use this page as the primary information source on Collin.
For those that don't know, Collin's surgery yesterday was successful. It was supposed to be a laproscopic surgery, but it ended up requiring an incision about an inch long. They planned to start laproscopic so that they could look around before making an incision, but ended up having to make an incision in order to remove the tumor and adrenal gland.
Today was about pain management. Collin had a rough day. We had trouble getting his pain under control. The doctors wanted him to get out of bed, but the pain was too much. We were only able to get him to roll slightly on either side. Hopefully tomorrow they will get a better handle on his pain, which will make it more likely that he will get out of bed. They have said that he will not be able to go home until his pain is under control and he can get out of bed and move around without severe pain.
By way of his eating, he ate half of a twin popsicle. He also ate a couple of small bites of a chocolate chip Pop-Tart, but he technically wasn't supposed to have that!! Julie decided to sneak it to him because he was literally in tears over not getting it, and with the battle we have had over getting that child to consume solid food, she decided to sneak him a small nibble. He is having a hard time understanding why he needed the surgery, but Julie has explained it to him and he is really trying to understand it as much as he can. This entire experience can be very confusing for an adult, let alone a six year old!
Overall, Collin is very frustrated with the situation and very tired of being hospitalized. This frustration has caused some issues in getting him to cooperate with the medical staff.
That is about it for today. He didn't do much today other than watch DVD's and TV, and slept most of the day. He didn't even feel like playing video games today! As always, we really appreciate your love and support in this difficult time. Please remember that there is a fundraiser this Thursday at the Center Grove Applebee's. Remember you must present a flyer and they will donate 15% to Collin's expenses. If you need a flyer, please contact jenndwilson83@yahoo.com, or comment on this blog and give us an email address to send the flyer to.
