Baby Steps

Collin showed signs of improvement today. The doctors were able to decreased the medication that was keeping his blood pressure up. He has been able to keep it up enough for the doctors to start to ween in off of it. They can not suddenly take him off of it because then his blood pressure would really be out of whack. He still wasn't very responsive. He did wiggle his toes when he feet were tickled. He also tried to squeeze Heath's finger when prompted. He was able to wrap his thumb around Heath's finger. He have not been able to get responses since this morning. He can hear us when we talk to him. The respiratory therapist was trying to clear some of the junk build up out of Collin's breathing tube. This normal. The RT was having difficulty in getting Collin to relax so she could clean it. She asked if I could talk to him to relax him. He did relax. He is still on the vent. The doctors are saying he is doing what is called "riding the vent". He can breath on his own. The problem is that he was having trouble keeping his stats up to a normal. Last night the vent was set at 20 breaths per minute. The lowered it to 16 breaths per minute this morning. They are doing this as a normal routine. Overall Collin looked better today. I will post more information. I am falling asleep while trying to put the post up. Thank you for all of your love and support.
