Day 1

Day 1 was yesterday. I intended to put up a post then, but fell asleep in the middle of it. Collin is going OK. He had to have another port put in. This one is bigger then the central line in his chest. They put the port in his shoulder. When he came back from surgery, he started to roll his shoulders. He was feeling the pain from the new port being put in. I started talking to him telling him to settle down. I was also holding his hand. Aunt Martha was also talking to him too. When we would stop talking he would start rolling his shoulders again. His nurse got his pain medicine quickly. He settled down once he got the pain medicine. They started the dialysis. He did great. Later his blood pressure dropped. They gave him some Dopamine to bring it back up. It worked. His body temperature also got really low. It got below 95 degrees. They put a "bear blanket" on him. That is a blanket filled with air and it is attached to a small machine that keeps pumping warm air in. He did very well overnight. He is expected to be on the dialysis for several weeks. He is on it around the clock. The hope is that this will give his kidneys a chance to recover. He is in kidney failure. However, he can recover from this. The doctor said that we should see a reduction in swelling in the next few days & hopefully he will wake up in about a week. That is all I have for now. I will put a post later to let you know how he did today. Thank you for all of you support & prayers during this difficult time.
