Day -6

Day -6 was actually yesterday, Tuesday, but because of complications, I was not able to get the post up. The day started out great. Collin woke up feeling ok. He of course is still having trouble with nausea, vomiting & diarrhea. He usually doesn't started having these side effects until at least a week into chemo. He started this on Day -7. Overall he had a good day today. His teacher here at Riley came in to see him this morning. He will start school here tomorrow, Wednesday. Stacy is a great teacher. She communicates very well with Mrs. Stubb, his teacher at home. She wants to work with him on what Mrs. Stubb wants him to work on. It is great! He wasn't too excited to find out he was starting school here, but he will get over it. He had OT as well. He has just received a new Lego Bionicle when his OT therapist came in. Her and I talked for a few minutes on what I would like to see them work on. She is going to work more on his fine motor skills. He has regressed on his fine motor skills since he has been sick. She was great. She used the new Bionicle in his therapy today. She said that working with Legos is a great way for him to work on his fine motor skills. She then gave him some therapy putty to work on his hand strength. To make it more fun for him, she put 10 beans in it. He loves to hide the beans in the putty then try to find them. He even had me and Grandfather do it too. He also had Music Therapy today. She brought in an electric musical instrament. It made all kinds of sounds. He could change the tempo, beat and sounds. He loved it. He then got into playing with some of her other insturments she had and the ones they keep in all the rooms. He really liked playing on the drum. After he asked me if I could get him an electric guitar for his therapy. I told him he would have to wait on that. He also had Art Therapy today. She brought some "Project Bricks". They are little bricks that he can build with. She helped him start building a castle. She would handle the glue part so he wouldn't make a mess. They are going to continue to work on it while he is here. He really enjoys art therapy. She always brings things that he can build or create out of clay. The rest of the day we just hung out. We watched a couple of movies and played on the computer. Grandmother and Grandfather came to visit. They brought him some "Dot Paints". He loves those. He was really excited to get them. Grandmother and I walked down to the gift shop to see what new was in. She bought him some other surprises for me to put back for those moments of boredom. Things went fine until 11:30p.m. Collin had a seizure. They are not sure yet what caused the seizure. They immediately got it under control and rushed him to CT to check his brain. From the initial review there is not bleeding or obvious causes. They also do not believe the chemo cause the seizure because he has been through 6 rounds so far and if this current chemo would have caused it, he would have had one prior to this. I have spoken to the neurologist and they want an MRI and an EEG done tomorrow. I will keep you all posted on this. Thank you for all of your prayers and support during this difficult time.
